ediPop
ediPop is NilTech’s first commercial spin-out, and the clearest statement of how the group intends to work: take a materials capability, point it at a specific industrial problem, and engineer it until a production line can run it unchanged.
Bio-based, water-soluble packaging
The problem is a familiar one. Flexible packaging is cheap, effective and almost impossible to recover. Most alternatives fail not on chemistry but on integration — they demand new equipment, slower lines, or a change in how the product is handled.
ediPop is designed the other way round: bio-based and water-soluble, formulated to run on the vertical form-fill-seal equipment converters already own. 100% taste, 0% waste. Packaging is our first application — not our final destination.
Objectives
A bio-based film that dissolves in water without leaving persistent residue
Sealing and handling behaviour compatible with existing VFFS lines at production speed
Barrier performance matched to the shelf life each product category requires
Food-contact compliance designed in from the first formulation, not retrofitted
Achievements
Formulation platform developed in-house and iterated across multiple film variants
Zero-friction VFFS integration established as the binding design constraint
Cost-per-unit targets set against real procurement benchmarks
Next milestones
Pilot-line trials on converter equipment
Barrier and dissolution test programme
Food-contact certification dossier
First named converter partner
